Pajero Sport: easy like Saturday morning

Getting the kids, their mates, and their gear to where they need to be on Saturday mornings just got a whole lot easier – thanks to the new Pajero Sport.

Mitsubishi’s tough and classy SUV now comes with seven seats, courtesy of a foldaway third row at the rear of the vehicle’s spacious interior.

With 135kW and 437Nm from the 2.4L DiD MIVEC engine, 3.1 tonnes braked towing capacity, and a host of innovative 4WD technologies, Pajero Sport leaves nothing in the locker room – whatever the game plan.

“The extra seating capacity in Pajero Sport provides a further degree of versatility from this all-round performer,” says Mitsubishi head of sales and marketing strategy Daniel Cook. “Owners are just as likely to hook up a boat and take a group of family or friends on a fun-filled away day. They can do so knowing everyone on board is travelling in comfort and security.”

Comfort and safety

The third-row seating accommodates two passengers and features standard three-point seatbelts with ELR, plus airbags on either side – taking the total airbag count to nine throughout the vehicle.

Headrests and air vents with adjustable fan speed controls ensure passenger comfort isn’t overlooked either, while fold-forward second-row seats allow easy access and egress.

Configured in a 50:50 split, the rear seats pack away flat to maximise cargo space. The addition of a cargo box provides flexible storage space and raises the cargo floor to a single level for loading convenience.

The full package

The extra seating adds just 40kg to the vehicle’s kerb weight, without compromising fuel efficiency of 8.0L/100km – a figure shared by both the XLS and premium VRX options.

“We’re really excited to add the seven-seat Pajero Sport to our line-up. Drivers looking for the flexibility of extra seating with the added reassurance – on and off-road – of advanced 4WD technology need look no further,” said Mr Cook.
